Southeast Region

Your Southeast Region LEL is Charles “Charlie” Kane. Charles came to the LEL program after retiring from the Lake Worth Police Department as a Police Lieutenant in 2007. Prior to working for the Lake Worth Police Department Charles served in the United States Army. Charles serves his region from Palm Beach County where he lives with his wife and children.

The Southeast Region Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL) is responsible for approximately 87 state, county and municipal law enforcement agencies in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Okeechobee, Brevard, Osceola, Orange and Seminole Counties. The Southeast Region LEL coordinates with Local Area Network Coordinators (LANC) who are members of local law enforcement agencies to help facilitate and pass on traffic safety information such as traffic safety training opportunities, DUI checkpoints, saturation patrols, and legal updates. The Southeast Region meets bi-monthly at Local Area Network (LAN) meetings to discuss local traffic safety issues which include implementation of the Florida Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s traffic safety initiatives such as Click it or Ticket , Drunk Driving Over the Limit Under Arrest, The Florida Law Enforcement Challenge, Florida Motor Unit Challenge, DUI Sustained Enforcement Initiative, and the Click it or Ticket Challenge are primary programs in the traffic safety initiative.
